Description
Sometimes life begins after you die. A least it has for Lily O’Donnell.
Lily had always wanted to find a love as beautiful as her parents had, but in her many lives, she has never found it… until now. Reborn to help others, Lily reappears time after time to help families in need—and then she dies once they no longer need her. This time, her challenge is three brothers who need to learn how to live and love again. The Cunnings’ men certainly aren’t the easiest to get along with! They’ve gone through six housekeepers in as many months, but they’ve never met anyone like Lily.
It isn’t long, however, until an enemy targets Lily, believing she has the knowledge to make him immortal. The brothers will have to work together to pull off the rescue attempt, but will it be enough to save a woman who has always been destined to die?
Internationally acclaimed, New York Times and USA TODAY Bestselling author of Western, Fantasy, and Paranormal Romance brings another adventure filled with action, suspense, and a love worth fighting for.

These stories are about wounded men and women who are searching for a life they have only dreamed about. Love finds a way. Heart-thumping suspense, action-packed, and filled with hot, passionate love, these stories show that love can heal a wounded soul–although sometimes it takes a little heavenly help from some mischievous God/Gods/Goddesses above! Loki is one of my favorites! From the Inside Flap A peek inside Lily’s Cowboys… Romance with a twist!Laying the brush down on the vanity, Lily pulled out a ragged journal, opening it up to a new page. Tonight all three brothers came together and talked. Allen has come so far in the past week. I will miss our quiet evenings together. Today I fixed up his bedroom upstairs as a surprise for him. He is so much stronger and getting stronger every day. I love watching him work with the horses when he thinks I’m not looking. He has a gentleness to him I’m sure he would deny. I could see the love he had for Caleb. Caleb was a surprise. I don’t know why as I had studied the pictures of him hanging in Allen’s room. He was so much more everything. I could see the worry in his eyes for Allen. It has been hard on him, seeing his brother in pain and not being able to do anything about it. I didn’t want him to know how sweet it was of him thinking I was messing around with someone behind Allen’s back. He would probably have seen the humor in it as well if he knew I had never even been kissed before. He is so protective of his younger brother. Ethan I am not sure about as I only had a few minutes to spend with him. I could tell Ethan wanted to protect his brothers from me, unsure of my intentions. I will have to reassure him tonight will not be repeated. Ethan’s whole demeanor speaks of control and authority. It will be hard to get him to let go. It seems like he has forgotten what it is like to just enjoy life. I will have to think about what I can do to help him enjoy the little things.I received my first kiss tonight. I was so shaken I didn’t know what to do. This has never happened in any of my other lives. I will need to be careful as I don’t want the brothers becoming too attached to me. It will be hard enough when it is time for me to leave. My feelings are so confused. I wish I had someone to talk to.Lily closed the journal and placed it back in her canvas bag. She turned off the light and climbed into bed. Tomorrow would be an interesting day with all three of the brothers finally home together.
Reviews from Amazon users, collected at the time the book is getting published on UniedVRG. It can be related to shiping or paper quality instead of the book content:
⭐ This book contained spelling and grammar errors, few enough that I probably could have ignored it if it hadn’t been for the actual plot of the book. The basic plot is kind of interesting, but the female character died just before her 18th birthday in 1919, while having no romantic interests at the time… she reappears at various times throughout the last almost hundred years before arriving on this ranch with three adult brothers. They decide to seduce their new housekeeper and keep her forever. And this not yet 18-year-old from 1919 doesn’t even blink. Even though she likely has limited knowledge of what sex is, her concern is that they’ll fall in love with her and she’ll leave because she always leaves. Nothing at all about how she is torn between her idea of what a wholesome, godly relationship should be and what these brothers want for her. The author needed to make them work for this relationship more than they did. As the sex scenes had a large part of the book, this really bothered me. She has her first kiss and about a week later, she’s having sex with three brothers. I don’t think so.Also, when she sees a picture of two men and a woman, her thought was “oh, they have two dads” rather than “Oh, must be a dad, and uncle and aunt or something.”
⭐ I was surprised with this one. I wasn’t expecting to like it at all. If I can use one word to describe it, I would say “sweet.” I’m a bit surprised by some of the negative reviews. Of course this is not “realistic”. It’s a fantasy novel. I don’t think this author has written a single “real/possible” romance novel. All of her books are not only fictional, but fantasy! Furthermore, it’s erotica. If you’re looking into tame sex, go for blush novels. If you want to add a splice of what’s real and what isn’t, then I would say reality would be more like f/f/f/m rather than the reverse! After all, polygamy does exist in today’s world only in reverse of the sexes (damn!) since women far outnumber the men. Coming off my soapbox, I would like to say I would’ve enjoyed this book more had there been more development with each brother on their own, mixed with a few scenes of threesomes before coming into the 4-some full blast. I would agree on the fact that taking a virgin into an immediate foursome is a bit much. Overall though, I thought it well-written despite content.
⭐ I have become a fan – having said that; you have to be a fan who is willing to tolerate typos and inappropriately defined words and wrong tenses. In spite of that, I think Ms. Smith is a really talented writer – she will become a talented author when her editing is better. I’m willing to help and its not my background! This story is a redemption story, Lily is a traveling soul; she comes when she is needed helps the people she works for, solve their problems and them returns to the hereafter. The brothers need help, they work hard, one of them has a problem with PTSD and while the other two love him and want to help, they have a ranch to run and they don’t know how to handle him, Lily does! This is not a long read and yes, it has erotic content. I think Ms. Smith handles that really well.I loved the story, the premise and the resolution – while improbable it was wonderful and very romantic. That’s why I read romantic fiction. I don’t take off for the editing and so I think this deserves 5 stars – its really different from anything else I’ve read.
⭐ I enjoyed this book and like to return to it when I need a sweet romance story to relax with. Caleb, Ethan, and Allen are brothers who run their family ranch, but have lost their sense of family especially since Allen came back from the military wounded and trying to drink his nightmares away. Lily died in 1919, but returns to help out people who need her and disappears when her work is done. This time she returns to be a housekeeper and cook for the three brothers and to heal and bring together the brothers as a family again. The only thing that had me feeling uneasy is when the brothers first meet her, all they can think about is having sex with her. She was 17 years old when she died and having three big men lusting after her living in the same house feels threatening even though Lily stands up to them and handles herself well. I didn’t like that they gave her the silent treatment when she first rebuffed their advances which isolates her. What tempers this situation is just how much all three brothers have fallen in love, not lust, with her and how their relationship brings them all closer together. The brothers would never hurt Lily and I like the way the brothers treat Lily and show how much she means to them.
⭐ I enjoyed this story and think it’s a good introduction novel to the author. I’m not sure what I can say in regards to a recommendation or review. I liked the story, the characters were interesting. I think my biggest not so much complaint but desire is that for the brother Allen. It alludes to his military career, his being taken hostage, nightmares, etc but it doesn’t talk about it or how his injuries affect him now and the nightmares, etc. I think going in to that would help give this character more depth. Other than that I enjoyed it.
⭐ I just like S.E.Smith’s books. They are full of humor and though some of the stories are a little far-fetched, the characters make you want to believe in the magic Ms. Smith spins with stories and characters. Want to get lost in a tale and away from the aggravations of life? Pick up one of S.E.Smith’s books & get lost in a different world.
⭐ I’m just coming up for air after reading about 6 of this author’s books. This is a standalone from any of the other books she’s written and although there is the touch of paranormal to it, it’s not scifi/fantasy based and has not 1, but three heroes to our 1 heroine. Although at times you must suspend disbelief, it was a great story that pulls at the heartstrings. It starts off very sad and along the way, builds to an erotic and passionate relationship.Lily died when she was 17 years old under excruciating circumstances. As an angel, every now and again, Lily is sent to families to help them heal and when they no longer need Lily, she ends up tragically dying. Lily tries to remain as remote as possible since she knows her time with the families are very short lived, but when the three Cunnings brothers meet her, it becomes impossible for her to hide her true feelings and for the first time in almost 100 years, Lily grabs at the chance to actually live, no matter how short a time she’ll have.I find this author is very good at not only writing erotic romance novels, but adding a story that’s entirely engaging with depth beyond what you’d expect to simply get the characters on. This story is unlike most of her other stories in that there isn’t the sassy, sprited heroine, but it does have a strong and caring woman who endures incredible sadness, but also experiences great joy and love. As a short story at under 200 pages, there is more that could have been added to build the relationships as opposed to the big bang, love at first site, but there’s enough there to keep you engaged and entertained all the way through. My personal disbelief was really more focused on a place where it’s acceptable to have multiple loves since I’m more of a one man one woman fan myself, but I still enjoyed the story.
⭐ I laughed and cried throughout this book. It was heartfelt, heart-wrenching, and heart warming even with all the uncertainty and twists. This book captivated me and I didn’t put it down till I was through. Read this in about three and a half hours. Awesome!
⭐ An awful, rushed, careless cowboy imitation of The Clans of Kalquor, a much better series.*SPOILERS*The brothers practically jumped on her at first sight, groping and dominating her within hours without any consideration to her feelings at all. They take her virginity without even slowing down or preparing her, *all* of her virginity. They find out how old she was, almost a hundred years ago, and *gasp* she’s suddenly jailbait. “Oh ick, we don’t want you any more, and we don’t care about your safety either”There was nothing redeemable about this book at all. I read almost everything else by this author and loved it all. That makes this one just that much more a slap in the face.
⭐ I have read all of S.E. Smith’s books. One thing that kept me coming back for her books was the heroine. She introduces snappy, smart alecky heroines who can hold their own. I did not find that in this book. To me, this book was the typical ménage book with several Alpha males. Yes, the heroine held her own against these guys, but I missed the snappy comebacks, and the repartee between the characters that kept the Alpha guys on their toes. The most that she told these guys was to stop cussing or they had to put money in the cuss jar…..The premise of the story is sad, and it does draw you in. But this book was just not there for me. I gave it three stars for the smoking, and I mean page burning, sex scenes between the four of them, but, other than that, I was really disappointed when I compare this to her Dragon Lords series, or her Lords of Kassis books.
