Description
The summer that Chase Stern entered my life, I was seventeen. The daughter of a legend, the Yankees were my family, their stadium my home, their dugout my workplace. My focus was on the game. Chase … he started out as a distraction. A distraction with sex appeal poured into every inch of his six foot frame. A distraction who played like a god and partied like a devil.

Review “If you like romance with a side of murder and mystery, MOONSHOT is the book for you! Torre pulls readers in from the very first page…In addition to a an intricately plotted mystery, readers are treated to a love so pure you’ll be rooting for the couple all the way to their HEA.”― RT Book Reviews “Moonshot is a brilliantly crafted story that pulled me in from the very first page.” ―Harlequin Junkie “A sexy, exciting, and thrilling read! Highly recommended!” ―Aestas Book Blog “Fans of forbidden romance with sizzling sex and a dash of suspense will enjoy this twisty ride.” ―Under the Covers Book Blog PRAISE FOR HOLLYWOOD DIRT: “Torre’s contemporary romance is a true hit.” ― RT Book Reviews “Hollywood Dirt was the real thing―pure contemporary romance at its finest. Effortlessly told, entertaining, and so very swoon-worthy. It’s not to be missed!!!”―Kim Karr, New York Times bestselling author PRAISE FOR THE GIRL IN 6E: “The Girl in 6E uniquely twisted and captivates from the beginning. The premise is entirely original, as are the characters and the pacing. The main character may be a cold killer, but inside is a woman with a soul who sacrifices everything to keep from unleashing herself on the world…. Torre has written a beautifully warped thriller that will be staying with this reviewer for a long time to come.”―RT Book Reviews, Top Pick! (4.5 stars) “A.R. Torre’s The Girl in 6E lifts the veil on the dark, erotic world of camming, but the book contains so many more surprises than that. At the novel’s core, a tender heart beats, and the increasingly suspenseful pages fly by as its deepest secrets are revealed. This is a taut, edgy, thrill ride, powerfully gripping and impossible to turn away from.” ―David Bell, author of Never Come Back and Cemetery Girl “An incredible debut. Gritty, unique, primal, full of angst, oddly feminist, and right up my alley. The Girl in 6E deviates from formulaic romance to deliver something truly special and worthy of praise and attention. A dark soul like me isn’t often surprised by controversy or taboo subject matter, but this book delivers and I’ll be reading more A.R. Torre books in the future. Kudos!” ―CJ Roberts, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of The Dark Duet “Dark, edgy, and thrilling in a completely unexpected way.” ―Lisa Renee Jones, New York Times bestselling author of The Inside Out series

⭐ 4½ Star ReviewAlessandra never fails to amaze me with her stories and storytelling. Never. I have yet to want to put her books down. Once I start, I want them to last forever, meanwhile wanting to get to the end at the same time.I thought this book was going to be a love story with a baseball player in it. And it was, and it was also a little bit of a mystery that I hadn’t expected. At first, I was confused about some pieces. I couldn’t figure out where they fit with the story. Then, the pieces started to fall into place and all I could think was, “You little sneaky devil Alessandra. Sneaky, sneaky, sneaky”.Like I said, I have liked/loved every book of Alessandra’s that I have read. And like I said, when I started this book I thought it was just a romance… So… if you know my tastes in genres, I am not one to usually like romance. Not nice romance. This is a little nice, a little raw and a lot of intrigue. I know that isn’t really a genre. But still, it wasn’t what I thought it would be. I am happy about that. This story unfolds at such a pace I found myself wanting to get to the end but wanting more too. Between the lies, secrets, angst and twisted love story, I didn’t want to put this book down.
⭐ This was my second novel I’ve picked up and read by Alessandra Torre. The first being Black Lies. Black Lies was a crazy twisted masterpiece and I was left reeling when I finished… so I wasn’t sure what I was in for when I started Moonshot.Tyler “Ty” Rollins grew up in a world of baseball. Her father, Frank Rollins, is a Hall-of-Fame bound closing pitcher for the prestigious New York Yankees. Baseball was in her blood. Since her mother’s death when she was seven years old, Ty has accompanied the team every year, earning her spot as a batgirl. A role she took very seriously.Enter Chase Stern, a bad boy ball player based in Los Angeles. He makes a mistake with one of his teammate’s wives and he is shipped off to New York immediately. One thing that struck me as odd with this development was the Yankees pedigree for no drama and high expectations taking on this player who clearly has drama in spades. It was addressed in the book, but it made me scratch my head. Just a little blip, didn’t stop me from turning pages as fast as I could. One of my favorite parts about the book was the relationship Ty has with her father. You could feel the close knit bond between the two of them. Frank was fighting the battle of raising an independent 17-year-old girl in a male dominated world while protecting her from what he knew could come from her presence there.Enter Chase Stern. The moment these two meet on the page, the chemistry crackles instantly. I felt it leap right off my Kindle. I loved every moment. Every glance, Every interaction. All of it. The forbidden aspect of their growing relationship made it spicy and even more captivating. The thrill for the characters was just as exciting for the readers. With every secret rendezvous, stolen moment, heart-melting kiss I fell as deeply in love with these characters as they did with one another. As is with most “bad boys” in books, there is usually something in their past that triggers the behavior. As is the case with our hero, Chase. Memories of this moment from the past causes a lapse in judgment, which sets of the rest of the book like a domino effect. No spoilers here. This sets up the second half of the book.Honestly, I don’t want to give away too much in my review because it’s important for you to go as blind as possible. I am notorious for peeking at future chapters or sneaking the last few pages at the end of the book, but this time, I NEEDED to be surprised. There is definitely a knock-your-socks off romance throughout the entire novel. It’s a heart-pounding, swoonworthy, catch-your-breath kind of romance swirled around a mystery that will keep the pace of the second half going along at a brisk pace. You won’t want to put down the book. You have to reach the pinnacle to find out just how this story will unfold. Trust me, you will NOT be disappointed. I promise.
⭐ 3.5 stars.First off I want to be clear that a adore the writings of this author,Hollywood Dirt,Love Chloe ,Black Lies,Sex Love Repeat, just great books, her best work and I swear you will love those reads, please try them all, just the best!!.Now for Moonshot,I was really loving it until the 50 percent mark, then I only liked it.The first half was so great, this young girl growing up with her famous pitcher dad surrounded by the Yankees meeting the wildest bad boy of baseball, ok all in going great, then the mistake moment with Tobey,I get it,juvenile mistake but that is what happens when you are 18 years old. Then the whole 4 years later,no contact with Chase ok can still see how that can happen, didn’t love it but then the whole ” who dun it” killer on the lose thing just wasn’t a good fit for this story or for me,sorry. It just seemed out of place for this book.It just kind of threw me off of this love story read,it was just ok . I just wanted the book to focus more on Ty and Chase finding their way back.I appreciated, really appreciated the first half so much,It was so hard to believe that Chase became a celibate man for 4 years too, that was a huge character stretch, from him going on drug binges and threesome’s to celibate was just to far of a stretch for me.Loved the Epilogue though so thank you for that.I just really missed Ms Torre laying out the huge passionate read that she usually takes us all on,even the beginning relationship between Ty and Chase was missing a little of that build up to “wow, these two have something special “, I just missed that extra effort, extra detailed writing of emotions that we usually get from this author that always makes her reads so damn 5 star!,also I missed her witty, snarky and funny as heck one liners, Ty could have given alot of that to Chase for sure, especially in the very beginning, gosh he deserved that.It was a good read but it wasn’t Ms.Torre’s usual “Wow” reads, kind of bummed, but she is still on my automatic must download everything she writes ,that will not change.bottom line, liked it,wish I loved it but Ms.Torre is a very talented writer so you will always get your money’s worth of a read so again always worth your time, truly.
⭐ I have to admit though that I didn’t love the story. I liked it but didn’t love it.I started the book without reading the blurb because I like doing that sometimes so the book can surprise me and I go in without any presumptions or predicting about the story. Anyway, at first it took me a while to get situated, I don’t know why exactly, just that there was a lot of names being thrown out there and I couldn’t keep up. When I did, things started to make sense and I started enjoying the story. Ty was great, she knew what she wanted from a young age and went for it. She had some curveballs thrown her way that really changed her life in a way she never expected. The second part of the book was soooo angsty! I could not stop reading and my heart was actually racing the whole time because I kept waiting for the bomb to drop and when it did, oh God! At first, I thought Tobey was killing the girls, even though there was no indication of that, it was just one my theories. Chase was never a suspected to me, but knowing Tobey had affairs with all of them and kept if from the police? That was just stupid. But anyway, I really enjoyed reading it, it kept me on the edge of my seat most of the time. I liked the characters and the ending, it was sweet and everyone came out (almost completely) fine. So it was an enjoyable read. I love Alessandra’s stories and this one’s been on my tbr for a while and I’m happy I finally had the time to read it.
⭐ I’m honestly at a loss as to what to write. For one, while this book kept my interest, it wasn’t at all what I was expecting. This was a love story, but you’re not quite sure if it’s a love story between a man and a woman, or a woman and the Yankees. Some people are born with a silver spoon in their mouths. Tyler (Ty, named after Ty Cobb) Rollins was born with a baseball in hers. Her father was a pitcher for the Yankees, and after the death of her mother, she never left her father’s side; even becoming a Bat Girl for the Yankees as she got older.Chase Stern was G-ds gift to baseball. When he was traded to the Yankees, it was all 17 year old Ty could do to not squeal like a girl typical of her age and gender. Unfortunately, he was considered off limits, due to his hard partying ways and questionable ethics regarding married women.Ty was also heavily encouraged to go after Tobey Grant, the son of Yankees owner Thomas Grant, who encouraged the pair to be together every chance he got. Too bad Ty had eyes for one man and one man only.Their affair started off slowly. Comments here and there. Sneaking off to go talk by themselves. Then Chase and Ty moved on to some serious making out. They confessed their love for each other right after her 18th birthday. But due to a misunderstanding, Ty gets drunk, finds Tobey, sleeps with him, and winds up pregnant. Chase, knowing that something is off with Ty, is flabbergasted when she tells him he is not her first. His temper flares and he picks a fight with a security guard, and is traded to another team later that night.Four years later, Ty is married to Tobey and their baby lost in a miscarriage. Chase is traded back to the Yankees as a last resort player, in the hopes of saving the Yankees from being eliminated from the championship. At the same time, though quietly mentioned in what you think are newspaper clippings, but aren’t sure, women are being murdered, one a year, and the connection seem to be the Yankees lack of a World Series entry (or win). When Ty first sees Chase again, her love for him returns tenfold. The pair finally hash things out, and rekindle their love. Ty is set to leave her husband, but the murderer is still out there and has his or her sights set on Ty.What I liked about this book is it moved quickly. It draws you in, and keeps you reading. Unfortunately, I felt like I was being told of the love between Ty and Chase, I wasn’t seeing it. There was a bit of a disconnect between the characters. The build up to the ultimate climax was so slow, when it did happen, you weren’t one hundred percent sure that was the actual climax, or if it was still building. The murders themselves were barely mentioned, and the character who commit the crime and his or her reason made little sense. Nothing was known about this character, so the reveal as the murderer was a huge WTF moment, and not a good WTF moment. This does end on a happy note, but again, you are told the characters are happy, you don’t quite see that for yourself. The author, who I’ve read her Innocence series, and I know she can write a page turner, relied heavily on narration, and less on character interaction. She also relied heavily on flashbacks to moments between characters that seemed emotionless, even though they were meant to be looked back on with wistful, romantic nostalgia.I had wanted this to be a lot better than it was, especially considering the hype. But it was a good read, nonetheless.
⭐ on’t let that GORGEOUS cover fool you. This book is not a light easy read. You’re not going to snuggle up with it and relax. You are going to pace the floor, curse at it, want throw your kindle and NEVER EVER want it to end. This was an amazingly emotional read. I don’t know what I expected. Alessandra Torre is an author who I trust to write anything, so honestly, when I turned page one, I forced myself to forgo the blurb and just experience it.I wasn’t prepared. Not even a little bit. Every time I thought I had a handle on what was happening, the book would say “no bitch, you DON’T!” and YANK the rug out from underneath me.Moonshot is a story of forbidden love and second chances. Ty is her dad’s road dog. She has been on the road with him since her mother died when she was 7 and she has grown up with him and the Yankee’s as the two great loves of her life. Then came Chase Stern.Chase is running from his demons. He has a natural talent that has made him a baseball legend and a very heavy past that has left him incapable of opening himself to love. Then came Ty Rollins. And their love…it burned so brightly that it made everything else dim. It was love at first sight for both of them. But Ty was 17, Chase was 22. Her father was the Yankee’s star closer and fiercely protective of his daughter. Playing for the Yankees was Chase’s dream. The Yankees winning the World Series was Ty’s. Falling in love could ruin the possibility of either of those things happening. Ty and Chase were like stars colliding…you knew the fallout would be huge, but you can’t do anything to stop it. They tried, her dad tried, but nothing could stop these two from falling in love. And it cost them both everything they thought they wanted. But life is not predictable and as stingy as she can be, she can also be incredibly generous. And when these two get a second chance, they grab it with both hands. They are not, however, operating in a vacuum. There are lives on the line and sinister plots in motion. And as much as Chase and Ty may love each other, love is not enough and duty is a jealous mistress. It’s a heart stopping read. I was coming out of my skin as I read. I couldn’t believe some of the twists and turns! I was pushed out of my comfort zone, a LOT and yet, I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN! I was gripped by it. It was so turbulent times, I had to brace myself on my bedroom wall. I am not kidding. It FELT so many things while I was reading. Elation, heartbreak, anger, joy, fear and triumph. It was excellent. The writing is pitch perfect, the story scathing, the characters were perfectly flawed. This story was messy and amazing. I loved it. It the BEST thing I’ve ever read from Ms. Torre (and that is saying A LOT).I’m not a baseball fan, but I found myself caught up in the whole atmosphere she created. The title moonshot was a perfect metaphor for the improbability and the greatness of their relationship.I loved this. It loved me back. It left me feeling like I never wanted to stop reading.5 to the moon and back stars!!
⭐ Moonshot is a sexy, forbidden friends-to-lovers/second chance sports romance with an edge-of-your-seat suspenseful element. Go ahead and read that again… I’ll wait. Yes, it is all of those things, but it’s woven together seamlessly and deliciously by Alessandra Torre’s stunning writing style. This story is intense and complex and unpredictable and so unbelievably addictive, but it’s fluid and superbly executed in all of its layered perfection. Ty Rollins might be considered the girl next door if “nextdoor” was Yankee Stadium. Her dad is a pitcher and she’s spent her formative years as their ball girl, traveling with the team, the players and staff her pseudo-family. Chase Stern is a rising baseball star, his unparalleled athleticism warring with his impulsive behavior to make for the quintessential bad boy with a notoriously marred reputation. He’s the guy you’d never take home to daddy because daddy is his teammate and you’re 17 and he’s trouble. If the dynamic between this sexy baseball star and the teenager he’s got in his sights doesn’t SCREAM delicious, forbidden romance, I do not know what does.Moonshot took me right back to my youth. First love, first heartbreak, that vulnerability and naivete that only exists in your teen years when you feel THOSE feelings for the first time, those first moments of fear and nervousness over sharing something intimate with someone else. And there’s no pain quite like your first broken heart, the first time you feel betrayal, the loss of first love in the most unexpected, confusing circumstances. Torre superbly illustrates such a wide range of poignant emotions as the unpredictable romance between Ty and Chase evolves over time. This story was such an unexpected tumultuous roller coaster ride. I didn’t know whether to scream or cry or swoon or cry more. The sexual tension builds so exquisitely, but the push and pull that comes later is maddeningly brutal. There are moments within these pages so shattering, I felt breathless, moments so frustrating, I could cry, moments so sweet, my heart could burst. This is one of those books where I found myself rereading sentences over and over again because they were so beautifully simplistic yet so heavily emotional all at once. I’ve probably said it with every single Torre book, but I’ll say it again… her writing has never been more beautiful than within these pages, her storytelling never more polished and brilliant than in this book.Moonshot embodies everything a sports romance was ever meant to be. It’s the perfect blend of romance, sex, conflict, drama, and angst against the backdrop of America’s favorite past time. There is something magical, something beautiful, something profound about the legacy of American baseball. Baseball is its own entity in these pages. This isn’t just a story where an author puts her bad boy in a cute uniform and calls it a sports romance. This is a story where these characters are fully immersed in thid life, living and breathing the game. The love of the game is just as fervent as the epic love story woven through it.Moonshot is so well developed, so perfectly paced, so exquisitely layered, I COULD NOT STOP READING. It physically pained me to put it down to go to work, to sleep, to do anything but be completely consumed by baseball, by Chase Stern and Tyler Rollins, by their broken world of love and pain and longing. What an addictive, spicy, unpredictable storyline. What a beautifully written, angsty, tumultuous journey these characters take. What a book! Seriously, what a damn fantastic book this is. Alessandra Torre knocks it out of the park with Moonshot. Game over, lights out, hands down my favorite book from Alessandra Torre to date.
⭐ I am already addicted to Alessandra Torre so when I seen another book out? Of course I was able to buy it on the spot. She’s one of my one click’s no matter what.SPOILERS SPOILERS!The story of Chase Stern the bad boy in the MLB and Ty Rollins (the closer’s daughter) you see a girl grow up losing her mother and having to go on the road with her father. A father who loved her so dearly. The bat girl who loved the game growing up, idolizing Chase Stern. She knows her stuff. When Chase does bad and sleeps with his teammate’s wife he has to find an out. That out was only the one place he has ever wanted. The Yankee’s.Chase’s dreams was to go to the Yankee’s and he wouldn’t have any other way. Ty wanted nothing more for her team to do well and she knew he would be it. No one seen what would happen after that. The story goes on. Girl meets boy standing in the nude. Guy ask if she likes when he sees. Guy finds out girl is teammates daughter. She’s forbidden. So beautiful and forbidden.Follow their love. See them say I love you. See them crash and burn.Only thing I hated with the whole Tobey situation. I mean it irritated me. I got where the author was going he was annoying and just a detour on where Ty should have been from the beginning. It was good though. Dave was a bit weird though…
⭐ I really had no idea what to expect when I started this book. I figured the writing would be superb, but as far as the story went, I knew just what the blurb told me…which wasn’t much. I really enjoyed this book. There were things that I wasn’t quite sure about regarding Ty and Chase, especially Chase. There was a lot about him not to like at first, but he’s got a decent reason why. I also was a bit unsure about the insta-love between Ty and Chase. It just seemed to be too much too soon, especially with everything that came after.I did really enjoy the chemistry between Ty and Chase. I mean, it would have been nearly impossible for them to fight it. The second part of the book becomes a second chance romance with a side of suspense. I found that added murder mystery to be interesting, although I really didn’t understand the why behind who was doing the killing.Overall, I enjoyed the book. I think Ty’s love of baseball really drew me to her. Even after the four year time jump where she was no longer a ball girl, but working in the office, she was still up on all things baseball. She knew what she was talking about and she wasn’t afraid to voice her opinions to the men running the show. I found that extremely refreshing. I loved the way the book played out. I am definitely loving Alessandra Torre’s writing and I can’t wait to read more by her.
⭐ Sports romance with some mystery/suspense involved…sign me up. This was the first book my Alessandra that I have read but I will have to read more of her work. This book was really good. I love a good sports romance book and while I don’t follow baseball, this book was written perfectly so that you could understand everything.I loved Tyler and her love of the game. She was forced into living that life completely when her mother passed away when she was 7 and since she was the daughter of a Yankees legend, she stayed with him all the time. She became a well known figure within the Yankees team. The team loved her and became an extended family for her. This girl knew her baseball and I loved it. She also had a thing for a baseball star…Chase Stern. But Chase had a wild side and that got him booted from his current team to the Yankees. Even though Ty was only 17 when they met, they became friends and had that connection you can only dream of. Their friendship grew but they kept it to themselves. There were some twists and turns along this baseball field. I really enjoyed seeing how Ty and Chase were able to navigate the things thrown in their way. There was a period in the book that I wasn’t really happy with the decisions that Ty was making but the way the entire book played out, it made it completely understandable.
