Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐I loved this book. I got it in London and I was so sad to finish it. It is a fine peice of fantastical literature. I am nine, and this was a great read for me, and it inspired me to wright a lot of different stories of this topic, but completely different. Mr. King did a great job creating the characters, the plot, and the detail. I am a big reader, so a little Stephen King goes a long way. I Highly reccomend this novel for fantasy lovers 12+ for gore, some sex, and some scary content. 100% LOVE IT!!!!

⭐I teach middle school and one of the things we are doing this year is working in small book club type groups where the students pick the books they read. Several students asked for scary books, particularly by Stephen King. Well, as a huge King fan myself, I could not think of anything that was appropriate for 7th and 8th graders. I scoured the internet and found this title on a list of recommended scary books for middle schoolers and ordered 4. Two girls picked this book and they were giggling uncontrollably during quiet reading. I asked them what was going on and they asked if I had read the book. I had not, and then one girl shows me on page 5 where it talks about the Kings flaccid penis. ‍♀️ Apparently this king does not like girls and was having a hard time performing on his wedding night. Thankfully, it did not say anything more detailed than that, but I was mortified enough that I pulled it from the shelves! The good news is now my students are fighting over books I haven’t read yet.I took it home and read it. It’s a great book, but middle schoolers can’t handle the word penis.

⭐I love reading a book and discovering connections to others I have read. Connections and clues slipped in that make you go, ” AH! That was in such and such book….”. There are so many of them in this book. I’ve loved reading Stephen King’s books since childhood, and this one was no different. Definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves Mr. King’s works. I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I did.

⭐Unlike any other King book I’ve read. And I’ve read a over a dozen now including all the Dark Tower books. Great characters as usual and a great bkgnd on Flagg who appears in this book as well as others. He is one nasty dude! You’ll never think of napkins the same way after reading this charming and very entertaining book. I hope King revisits this world and characters in the future. I really enjoyed the style of writing he took on in this book which is unlike any of the other’s I’ve read from him.

⭐Steven King has the most brilliant way of writing a story, in this story he is telling the tale of the wronged prince and his brother. The characters seem real and you can relate to each of them I will not give away any parts of the story so that you can read all about the evil magician and the things he does to try and rule and cripple the places he ‘visits’. If you like fantasy stories I can recommend this one. I never found anything in the story that I didn’t like or would have liked changed.

⭐I have only recently decided to give Stephen King’s work another go after not liking “It” when I read it several years ago. However, I just recently finished “11/26/63″ and having enjoyed that book, I thought why not give his works another try? Landing on this one after hearing that the fan reception to it was not necessarily the greatest when it was initially released and that in turn led to King writing ” Misery”-which I plan to get to at some point. It was a bit rough going in and I was a bit surprised to see some sexual references in the beginning of the book, given that this is intended for a younger audience, but those references neither threw me or pulled me out of the story. And I slowly found myself becoming immersed in the story. I liked the slow pacing and build-up, it allowed the suspense to grow while spending time with the characters, which gave us time to get to really know them, I do wish we’d had a bit more world-building, but we can’t have everything, I suppose. It reads like a fairytale from another time, and not a Disney one, either. And while the story has an ending, and a good one, I still want to know what happened after that. I can’t say it any better or anything more than that, if I did it would probably spoil the ending.

⭐An excellent cast of characters woven around a story that’s like no other fantasy book I’ve ever read.Kudos Stephen! Can’t wait to see what other gems in the fantasy realm you bring to us

⭐This is probably my favorite book by Stephen King. It is definitely different then the standard genre he is known for. This novel is more fantasy and not horroroccult genres despite the infamous Flagg being antagonist. I used to have a paperback copy of this I read every time I had to fly. Used plane ticket stubs as book marks lol.

⭐This is a minor novel by Stephen King. It’s a fantasy novel set loosely in the Dark Tower world. Flagg (yes him!!) is a court magician and is very evil. He plots against the King and has him killed. He imprisons the King’s son Peter, his deadly rival, in a high tower and makes the other King’s son, easily led and weak Thomas, as new king. The core of the story is how Peter manages to overcome Flagg in a battle of wits, with help from his friends. The prose style is in the vein of a traditional folk story, unlike King’s usual prose style, so it reads differently from his other novels. Is this a bad thing, no it isn’t. Once you get used to it, the novel reads well and you get caught up in the story. If you are interested in King’s canon of work, especially the Dark Tower world, then this is an interesting addition. If you are just interested in reading a good fantasy yarn then you will enjoy this story.

⭐Bought this second hand but would have been disappointed if I had paid full price. I appreciate that it is aimed primarily at a younger audience but the (admittedly tame)sexual references at the beginning upset the balance of an otherwise acceptable fairy tale. I am no prude but I felt that it wasn’t necessary and not appropriate for my two 10 year old daughters who have wanted to read a SK book having seen my collection of his work. Better to read the Inkspell Trilogy or Septimus Heap!

⭐It’s different from his other books but that doesn’t mean it’s not as good. I loved the story. I loved the “clues”, the way King linked every tiny bit of information and in the end it all made sense. It’s not a story for kids, trust me. This is for adults not because of sexual content but because of the way it explores the most ugly human emotions: jealousy, greed, fear… Fear mixed with ignorance is a nasty thing.

⭐Great read

⭐something a bit different from “the Master” but a thoroughly enjoyable tale!. All Stephen king fans will enjoy it!. Brought from betterworldbooksltd at a great price and helping a great charity too. I would definitely recommend people to search their stock first to see if the book they want can be got here!! …brilliant service thank you very much !
