User’s Reviews

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐This item was exactly what I wanted! A comic book-style adaptation of Kipling’s classic without all those unnecessary words. I was initially troubled by some of the reviews erroneously suggesting that this item was the original text. Thankfully, the item I received was a twenty-odd page booklet with 99% of the original text removed and replaced with colorful, eye-catching drawings. If you are looking for the actual Kipling classic, you should move along. This adaptation will save you so much time. I read it in less than five minutes, and I came away with an overwhelming sense of awe that will stay in my mind forever. Some may prefer the power of Kipling’s original work, but not me. I am both thankful and grateful to Amazon for offering this product and saving me so much time. Sure, the original book might be more nuanced and most certainly has a heck of a lot more words, but this comic book is all you need. Just think of the time you can save with comic adaptations of original classics like this one. Buy this and you can tell everyone you’ve read Kipling’s book! Don’t believe those reviews that say this is the complete and original Jungle Books by Kipling, it isn’t. Another benefit of works like this is how much space I save on my bookshelf. I just ordered a comic adaptation of War and Peace, and I’m looking for Gone with the Wind. Literacy rocks!

⭐Which young man has not has his father read “IF”to him, as an early lesson. Perhaps, somone was not fortunateenough to have a father or maybe he was lost in a War. Yet. I hope through school or friends he was introduced to Rudyard Kipling. I know my father was reportedmissing in 1942. It was months before we learned he was saved by the French and finally returned to England. I still remember his coming to the nursery, and reading the Jungle Book. Now I have grand godchildren and know they are as thrilled with Mowgli,Bagheeera. Akela as I was. There is also “Wee WIllie Winkie”, Puck, and of course Kipling’s own reflections”Something of Myself”.Kipling is as wonderful to read in,2012, as he was 1912 and imagine will be just as popular for readers in the years to follow.Richard HarlN

⭐The condition of these books far exceeded my expectations. I had hoped to pass on the set from my own collection but the spines of my books were damaged by a seditious puppy. These were a gift for my daughter and the family she and her husband hope to start soon. Books like these are the foundation of an invaluable library which can maintain the tradition of an educated and sensitive family.

⭐When I was a child, I borrowed The Jungle Books umpteen times from our local library. Since I became an adult, I have searched for the exact same edition of this classic book, without any results…until now!Not only did I find the exact edition of The Jungle Books, but it was in excellent, almost new condition. The seller not only packaged it so that it would not incur any damage, but also sent it out right away!I am very, very happy about this book and the seller. Thank you, Amazon.

⭐This was a gift. The person I gave it to said she “never had such a fancy book!” I never actually saw the book. The Jungle Books probably are among the hundred greatest books ever.

⭐I love this book! It contains not only the Jungle books but also many of Kipling’s short stories. Beautifully bound.

⭐It’s bigger than my other leahterbound books, which when bought they were all literally the exact same size. So it’s a little disappointing but it’s still great,

⭐This book is definitely one of my favorites in my whole collection! Beautiful leather bound edition of one of my favorite tales and the gold bamboo on the front just adds to the green jungle theme. Came in great condition!

⭐”Man goes to man, in the end.” Poignant, endearing, at times brutal, The Jungle Book pressed all my buttons. As a young child who loved and adored all the Disney animated classics, particularly The Jungle Book, once I found out it had actually originated from a book, it was a must read, especially from such an esteemed writer. The book however is much more in depth and fulfilling than the animated cartoon. It charts Mowgli through his adventures in the jungle and his rise to friend and master of all in his domain. Along the way Kipling breaks off for exciting forays into other animal kingdoms and environments other than just the jungle, giving a real mixed bag of wonderful images resonating in the mind, from seal and Innuit, to a mongoose and elephant, there is plenty of variety that kept me entertained. What particularly impressed me, was the way Kipling managed to muscle a meaningful short story into individual chapters, without leaving me with a sense I hadn’t gotten to know the characters.I really loved this book, and would definitely recommenend it.

⭐Most people will be familiar with this story, and will know why it is a classic. On the other hand, they may have not read the original version with the additional tales and poetry. It was worth reading these, even though the story of Mowgli is certainly the best known story for a good reason! The other tales though show the versatility of the author, and are engaging in their own way

⭐I have gone back to the classic works of literature and just love these Readers Digest editions. The binding, the touch of the paper and the illustrations all add to the excitement of the text. If you can find one of these classics in good condition, as mine was, then snap it up because it is one of those books for posterity.

⭐I remember reading this book 55 years ago and sadly did not keep the original. But now I have my own copy again. It’s such a well written book which I know I will read forever.

⭐Lovely old copy of the Jungle books. I got this edition as it was the same as the one I read growing up with all the original illustrations.
